We recently had the pleasure of welcoming MBA students from IE University to Copenhagen Changery as part of their Global Immersion Week in Copenhagen.
During the session “Sustainability, Profit, and Risk in an Accelerating World,” we explored sustainability – not as a compliance or moral exercise, but as a core business and financial capability.

Amanda Koefoed Simonsen presented how companies that work effectively with sustainability can protect margins, reduce business risk, secure access to capital and maintain strategic freedom. Conversely, companies that do not face rising costs, regulatory exposure and loss of competitiveness – often accelerated by AI and fast-moving markets.
The session combined two perspectives:
Sustainability in the Nordics with a focus on regional realities, trade-offs and widespread misconceptions• A practical business case that illustrated how sustainability decisions directly impact profitability, risk and competitive positioning
Thank you to the IE University MBA team for the session. It was a pleasure to have you visit and we hope the discussions provided useful perspectives that you can take back into your studies and future leadership roles.
